Regions Overview

Wild n Chill’s wilderness is designed as a multi-region escape, not a single meadow with a loading screen. Wombat Brawler has described a land of coastlines to high country — quiet moments, wildlife, and resources worth savoring — with eleven regions planned for the complete game. Steam hosts a Demo in Coldwater Crossing (Demo went live August 6, 2026). The full game is TBA. This page explains how to hold that roadmap in your head without inventing fake region names or pretending every biome is already playable.

For hands-on Demo routes, jump to Coldwater Crossing. For first-hour play, keep Getting Started close.

What “eleven regions” should mean to you

Treat the number as a structural promise: variety of places to wander, different resource moods, and room for cabin styles to evolve as you go deeper. Store copy talks about discovering new building styles while exploring — that fantasy pairs with region progression more than with a single static DIY menu.

Also pair regions with catalog targets: 40+ animals and 20+ fish make more sense across a wide map than inside one tutorial valley. Journal habits on Animals Journal and fishing patience on Fishing are long games.

Demo layer vs full-game layer

Demo layer (Steam hosts a Demo): Coldwater Crossing teaches bushcraft essentials — simple tools, survival shelter, foraging, hunting, and meeting locals such as Hermit Buck. Your skills should be forged here: knife-to-bow ladder, tidy camp, bear sense, co-op chore split.

Full-game layer (upcoming / TBA): Eleven regions, deeper building styles, broader wildlife tables, and the longer cabin dream (smokehouses, wood sheds, hides, and more). Do not write mental guides that assume you can already trailblaze all eleven.

This wiki stays strict about that split. We will expand named region pages when official details exist. Until then, overview thinking beats fan-fiction cartography.

How region variety changes your systems

Even without a finished atlas, you can plan flexible systems:

  • Crafting — tools and recipes should travel; vanity builds can wait for local style unlocks — Crafting, Recipes
  • Foraging — learn loop logic, not only node memes — Foraging
  • Wildlife — threat literacy and journal curiosity scale to new biomes — Wildlife, Bears and Danger
  • Cabin life — place camps near resources you understand in the current region — Cabin Building
  • Needs — food, water, energy math remains the passport — Survival Needs

When a new region eventually opens, your Coldwater habits should transfer: short loops, dog warnings, dry wood, abort conditions, and co-op role clarity (online up to four).

Exploration philosophy across regions

Wombat Brawler’s tone is slow living. Region hopping — when it exists in the full game — should feel like choosing a new quiet chapter, not speedrunning unlock flags. Pack for the walk. Scout edges. Fish when timber argues. Trade with locals when a gather is foolish. Hermit Buck in Coldwater is the prototype social beat — Trading with Buck.

Co-op groups should decide whether a session is “deep craft at home” or “scout the next ridge.” Mixing both without a plan strands the carpenter and the scout equally.

What we will not invent

This page will not fabricate eleven proper names, fake boss regions, or spoilers that do not exist. If you see rumor maps elsewhere, verify against official Wombat Brawler or Steam posts and prefer Updates plus Links on this wiki. Accuracy beats a pretty empty outline.

Practical checklist while only Coldwater is in your hands

  • Master Demo landmarks on Coldwater Crossing
  • Finish bushcraft ladder basics on Tools Progression
  • Keep danger rules sharp for dense woods
  • Log animals and fish as a long-term habit, not a Demo completion panic
  • Wishlist mindset: note which systems you want to retest when new regions appear
  • Use Controls and Tools so navigation friction is not the real wilderness
  • Return to Map when you need the hub jump table; use Guides for session stories

Regions Overview exists to keep ambition honest: dream of eleven, practice on one, and let the full game arrive on its own clock.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Are all eleven regions in the Demo?

No. The Demo focuses on Coldwater Crossing. Eleven regions are planned for the full game, which is TBA.

Why track regions if only one is playable?

So your tools, camp habits, and journal mindset stay portable when Wombat Brawler opens more of the wilderness.

Will building styles change by region?

Store framing says you discover new building styles as you explore deeper. Treat that as full-game direction, not a finished Demo catalog.

Where should I learn the playable map today?

Open the Coldwater Crossing page for Demo orientation, landmarks, and first-region goals.

How do animals and fish tie to regions?

40+ animals and 20+ fish are planned across the wider map. Use Wildlife pages to build habits that scale beyond one valley.
